Welcome to our little piece of Africa here in the heart of downtown Charlottesville!

After living in San Diego, California, my family moved to Zimbabwe in 1989 as my mother was a native of the former British colony. As a ten year old kid, I instantaneously fell in love with the people, sights, smells & tastes of southern africa. From canoeing safaris on the Zambezi River to white water rafting below Victoria Falls and enjoying family holidays by scraping mussels off the rocks at Camps Bay Beach, I was changed forever.

In coming back to the states, I attended the University of Virginia to study economics and while obtaining my degree, worked for various restaurants and catering companies. These experiences led me to the opening of The Shebeen Pub & Braai-my culinary interpretation of an enchanted south african childhood. I truly hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
